Mouse Endocan is a proteoglycan composed of a 20 kDa mature polypeptide and a 30 kDa chondroitin / dermatan sulfate chain.
However, glycosylation is present only over a fraction of mouse endocan. It also comprises a large proportion of non-glycosylated endocan corresponding to the protein body of the molecule.
Chromatography by ion exchange on DEAE-Sepharose allows to separate the glycosylated fraction (retained on the column) and the non-glycosylated (not bound).
